United Church Ferndown

What we believe…

United Church Ferndown exists because of Jesus.  We believe he is the unique Son of God who came to earth to bring God’s love to us. He died to bring us into a relationship with God. He rose from the dead and sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to live with freedom and purpose. In every generation he is calling people to be part of His church, a movement that lives to share the hope of the Christian message.

We at United Church Ferndown are gathered together to…

1. Whole-heartedly Love God
Jesus said, ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind”; and, “Love your neighbour as yourself. Luke 10:27

We are committed to loving God with all of our heart, mind and soul! We express this in our worship found in our everyday not just on Sunday. We recognise that wholehearted worship and service and our commitment to the five other statements.

2. Love All People
If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself,’ you are doing right. James 2:8

We seek to be a church that loves people, motivated by the experience of God's love in our lives. This is shown through our acts and deeds to others within the church family and those on the fringes of the church. We offer hospitality with open arms, ears and hearts!

2. Form Righteous Habits
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1

We believe our whole-hearted love of God is shown through changes in our character and lifestyle. We continually review how to help our members to form intentional habits for spiritual growth through our services, teaching, ministries, children & youth activities and pastoral support.

4. Share Jesus Creatively
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples. Psalm 96:3

We have a strong conviction that no one should stand and do nothing when someone is in need of being rescued! Sadly, we are aware that most of the people that we meet don’t realise that they need saving. We want to find different and exciting ways to share our stories about our God. Our own testimonies are varied so we believe there are many ways to find Jesus.

5. Use All of Our Gifts
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

We are a church made up of wonderful and unique people because that is the way that God has made us! We believe we were created with gifts and that it makes God sad when we don’t use them for His glory to build His church and to see His kingdom come! We believe that now is the time for all hands on deck!

6. Challenge Powers
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

We want to tell the Good News of Jesus Christ and show it too. We believe we can provide an example of the freedom, hope and justice found in God's kingdom. We desire to challenge the powers which prevail in our nation and our local community, breaking down the barrier of passivity and transforming despair into hope.
